Welcome to Rosie’s Helping Hands (Rosie's Charity) Website designed by Dean Staples and
authored by Karen and Sean Ross (Rosie’s parents). We hope you enjoy looking through the pages
and find the site informative and interesting.

Rosie’s Charity is dedicated in helping to improve the lives of children and young people in the
Midlands. We do this by organising fundraising events - money raised from these events is then given as grants to local organisations to help improve facilities and projects involving young people up to the age of 25 years. Some of the money raised previously has also purchased equipment for 2 Accident & Emergency departments in the West Midlands and The Institute of Cancer Studies at the University of Birmingham. Events we organise include discos, entertainment evenings, skittle nights and our largest fundraiser Rosie’s Walk which in recent years includes a small family festival. Often money is raised through the generosity of people who hold and organise fundraising events on our behalf, but many people support us by giving a donation so that we can continue to help others less fortunate than ourselves. We have met so many lovely and wonderful people through our work over the last few years that we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank each of you for your kindness, support and generosity, not just in giving money but with your time, kind words and deeds, we could not do this without you.

What is Rosie's Helping Hands

The charity was established by us after the motiveless and random fatal stabbing of our beloved daughter Rosie Ross in May 2001. Rosie was just 16 years old, the incident changed our lives forever and deeply affected people within the close community of Aldridge where Rosie was born and lived.

The charity makes grants to charitable organisations within a 20 mile radius of Walsall, in the West Midlands, England. Small grants are given to projects and organisations working with children and young people up to the age of 25 years. Organisations can apply (by requesting an application form) for a grant of between £50 to £2,000 to help improve the project, often the funding pays for equipment or staff to operate the project. We do not fund social trips, Christmas parties or activities of this nature. Please click here to view grants and grant making policy.

Each application is assessed by the Trustees to determine if the applicant meets the charity objectives and criteria and gives value for money. The vast majority of applications are successful and those that are not we try to help by sourcing other areas of funding or by putting them in contact with people who may be able to help in other ways.

The charity has also helped individuals with special needs that have a talent that can benefit others or
to receive specialised medical treatment not currently on offer in the UK.
