Successful day for the tropical festival

2008 saw our highest attendance to date with around 2,000 people participating in the day. Many took part in either the 1 mile or 3 mile walk whilst others joined in the festival during the afternoon. The new one mile walk proved popular with families with toddlers and people who would have found the 3 mile route too challenging. The Longhorn Pub on the 3 mile route got into the spirit by putting on a BBQ and DJ Andy Wood keeping the Tropical theme going with his music.

The community festival was also well attended with the delicious Cream Teas enjoyed by many people. Entertainment was provided by local children’s groups:- Jo-Leigh School of Dance, True Colours Choir, Leighswood Buskers, Forest Arts Steel Band with DJ Stu Rhodes keeping the whole programme running smoothly.

Thank you to all our volunteers, sponsors, walkers and visitors who supported the event you helped to raise a fantastic £15,000 with Gift Aid.
